Kygo eyes Donna Summer's smash hit 'Hot Stuff' for latest disco revival

Kygo has hit his stride as of late taking on disco era hallmarks for 21st century updates. So far, the Norwegian super producer has reconditioned Tina Turner’s inimitable “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” and teamed with Whitney Houston‘s estate to complete “Higher Love,” a cover of the 1986 Steve Winwood classic, and the first track to feature the late pop icon’s vocals in a decade. Now, Kygo is heading back to the time and place, taking on Donna Summer’s smash hit “Hot Stuff,” the lead single from her 1979 LP, Bad Girls.

The Queen of Disco’s original work, produced by the legendary Giorgio Moroder was an instant chart-topper, and would go on to earn a platinum RIAA certification and the Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. Now, hot off the heels of a successful third studio album, Golden Hour, and a recent billion streams benchmark on his sweeping hit “It Ain’t Me,” Kygo is set to extend the summer just a little further with his new update to “Hot Stuff,” landing on Friday, September 18.
