London’s Fabric nightclub will receive nearly $2 million (£1.5m) in relief from the UK government’s cultural recovery fund. The latest round of funding is intended to give England’s theaters, museums, music venues, and dance companies the financial resources they need to survive the pandemic with a total of almost $100 million to go to 35 of the country’s cultural institutions.
Fabric announced the news on October 25, writing in a Facebook post,
“Like so many other cultural institutions around the world, the past eight months have been some of the most challenging in our lifespan. With our doors closed and no source of income to sustain ourselves, simply paying rent and maintaining a 1,500 person venue in Central London has placed enormous pressure and financial strain on us as a business.”
Fabric has been a staple of London nightlife, helping to define the city’s electronic scene since the turn of the millennium with its eclectic bookings and iconic FabricLive mix series, which makes for the perfect soundtrack for your next weekend in.
