Nyege Nyege announces enormous livestreamed festival showcasing African talent – Mix Session

Nyege Nyege Festival, the biggest dance festival in Africa, typically takes place near Kampala, Uganda, in the forest along the Nile River. Forced to postpone due to COVID-19 restrictions, Nyege Nyege announced that their enormous 2020 lineup will be live-streamed this year from December 3 – 6.

This year’s lineup was chosen with the help of 45 African and Afro-centric collectives from all across the continent and surrounding countries. Some collectives entrusted with curation duties include BAARA MUSIK  from Burkina Faso, Uganda’s BA Cypher Kabaka, Sahel Sounds out of west Africa, The Last Popper from Cameroon, and many more. The 341 acts slated to appear at Nyege Nyege are primarily musicians and DJs, but performers of all artistries comprise the immense lineup, including comedians, dancers, filmmakers, and digital artists. In addition to the streaming coverage, Nyege Nyege Festival will host events in-person in Kampala, including an unadvertised secret performance to be announced later.
