Safar (FR) is an Afro house sensation who is back on Sol Selectas with a new EP, ‘Majaneen’, which features three of his original tracks.
This is the second EP that Safar (FR) has released via Sol Selectas, and each track on the release layers powerful percussion with dynamic synths.
Drawing inspiration from his African heritage, Safar (FR) layers tribal rhythms and traditional instruments with electronic sounds. His compelling style is full of excitement, and is perfect for captivating a dance floor. Some of the DJs already showing their support range from Chus & Ceballos to Djuma Soundsystem.
The title track, “Majaneen,” has a vibrant melody played on a traditional African instrument, which is accompanied by free-flowing synth melodies that create an improvised vibe. It’s a hot and humid slice of feel-good Afro house, and it’s a great way to open the release.
“Laafou” is second on the release, and it has a captivating vocal by Abdellah Stitou that fills the track with uplifting emotions. Everything within this track contributes to its rejuvenating energy, and the thickset percussion ensures it has a robust groove.
Last on the release, “Escalera,” has chugging chords and a trippy acid synth that helps create a hallucinatory atmosphere, which is like a mirage in the hot desert sun. Live percussion gives the track an organic sound that is marvellously hypnotising.
On a whole, this is an Afro house masterclass, which combines organic drums with enrapturing melodies to create thrilling grooves with gripping atmosphere and upbeat energy.
