Editor’s Note: A second new single from Pendulum has been released. A previous version of this article noted the release date as September 18.
Pendulum swing back with their first original material in a decade, reviving the iconic D&B suite that’s laid dormant since the formation of the equally galvanizing Knife Party offshoot with their new single, “Driver.”
Pendulum’s signature careening synths are back on the menu for “Driver,” however the revamped and thunderous baseline that accompanies it shows new parallels to the aforementioned Knife Party. For those new to the game since Pendulum’s last pass, what you hear from the Australian electronic group is what you get. Led by Rob Swire, Pendulum’s sound is built on the back of visual production, a sophisticated melodic touch, and a heavy handed serving of raw, unadulterated power.
A release so nice they’re doing it twice—Pendulum immediately followed up the release of “Driver” with the band’s sophomore comeback single,”Nothing For Free.” The single’s music video is scheduled to debut on September 18 at 7:00 a.m. EST.
