Is Addison Rae Retiring Already? Her Album Title Says It All

Addison Rae just pulled the ultimate pop move, she’s releasing her debut studio album, Addison, on June 6, and according to her pre-order page, it’ll be her first and last album as Addison Rae. Yep, the internet it-girl is dropping more than tracks, she’s dropping her last name too.

The album reveal came in classic Addison fashion: chaotic, unexpected, and very Coachella-coded. While joining Arca on stage during the DJ’s April 13 set, Addison casually flashed the album’s release date written on her underwear. Only she could make that kind of reveal feel like a serve.

Fans might’ve already heard a taste of what’s coming. Singles like “Diet Pepsi,” “Aquamarine,” “High Fashion,” and “Headphones On” are all set to appear on the record, which leans hard into that dreamy late-90s house energy. She’s been working with producers Luka Kloser and Elvira Anderfjärd from Max Martin’s MXM studios, the same team inspired by Madonna’s Ray of Light era. They even brought back the 1988 Korg M1 synth to lock in that nostalgic sound.

Addison’s been easing her way into the pop scene since 2024, when she dropped “Diet Pepsi” as her major label debut. Since then, she’s teamed up with Charli XCX on the remix of “Von Dutch,” and it turns out Charli had a big impact on her mindset. “It’s inspiring being around someone like Charli who’s been in it so long and still just follows her heart,” Addison said. “I’ve learned to lean into that and not be afraid to chase those dreams.”

Of course, with any influencer-to-pop-star pivot, the criticism is inevitable. But Addison’s not sweating it. She knows there’s no blueprint for success and isn’t here to play by anyone else’s rules. “A lot of people will be afraid and feel maybe they’re not good enough,” she said. “Now I’ve gotten to the stage where I’m like, that’s just part of the journey. I’m not afraid to keep making mistakes if I’m learning from them.”

So while Addison might be her last album as Addison Rae, don’t mistake that for a mic drop. This is just the beginning of a new era, and maybe a whole new name.
