Those years became the foundation for the way he continues to build performances today.

For my approach to dj’ing, I treat it like it’s an extension of my self and just let it fly. Not chaotically. I make sure to follow it just like I did with and really let loose on what I laid out in style. I let the phoenix-like energy I feel; since my radio station days; flow through with the energy it deserves. By that, I mean not forced, restrained or gated. I do however make sure that no one doesn’t feel exhausted but gives them what they would love to hear depending on the mood, and much more.
The Intersection of Personal Resilience and Creative Discipline
His approach to performance has also been shaped by experiences outside of music. PhoeniX was born with hydrocephalus and required a brain shunt as an infant before later undergoing a second surgery. He also lives with autism, learning disabilities, and a history of seizures. Medical appointments, recovery periods, and changes in his health have occasionally interrupted when he could perform. Over time, those realities encouraged a style of preparation built on patience, routine, and consistency.
Returning after time away became part of his creative process. Rather than beginning again each time, he continued building on what he had already learned. Each performance became another opportunity to refine transitions, improve pacing, and better understand how audiences respond over the course of a set. The progress came gradually, shaped through repetition rather than sudden change.
Expanding the Horizon in VRChat
That foundation carried naturally into VRChat. PhoeniX first joined the platform using a PC and webcam before later moving into full virtual reality as a PC user only. The technology expanded the performance without changing the principles behind it. Music remained the focus, while lighting, world design, avatars, and visual effects became additional ways to support the atmosphere he was already trying to create through sound.
VRChat’s electronic music community has developed its own rhythm over the past several years. Performances unfold as shared experiences where audiences dance, talk, explore virtual worlds, and respond to the music together. DJs adjust to the mood of the room while maintaining the overall direction of the set, creating an environment that feels both structured and responsive.
PhoeniX’s performances fit comfortably within that culture because they emphasize flow over sudden shifts. Projects such as REALITY SHARD extend that philosophy beyond music alone. Sound, visual design, and virtual environments are developed together so that each element contributes to the same experience. The audience is invited to move through the performance as a complete work rather than a series of separate moments.
Looking back on that journey, PhoeniX sees a clear connection between where he started and where his work is today.
When I first started my dj’ing journey, it was quite a hard choice to return to it after so long. When my days as a radio station DJ came to an abrupt end back in 2012, I was honestly heartbroken but I kept going with what I loved. I never lost hope but I never once dreamt that my path would once lead me to right here and now in the present. I am grateful.
His career has developed through steady progression rather than dramatic turning points. Internet radio established the technical foundation. Personal challenges strengthened his discipline. VRChat provided a place where those experiences could continue to grow into new forms of performance.
