Bevel Announces Partnership with Chicago’s Urban Prep Academies to Fund College Access Initiatives

Bevel has announced a partnership with Chicago’s Urban Prep Academies in an effort to fund college access initiatives. Assisting in the effort are Miami HEAT rookie Kendrick Nunn, Actor/Musician Jacob Latimore, Founder and CEO of Urban Prep Academies Tim King and WGCI host Kendra G participated in a panel discussion to celebrate the partnership.

Urban Prep Academies has a 100% college acceptance rate each year and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that operates three open-enrollment public charter high schools in high-need communities in the city of Chicago.

The partnership from Bevel will assist in the costs of college tours, application fees and college test prep fees for the classes of 2020 and 2021, in an effort to continue to support Black men in the city.

“[My Mother] did everything she could to ensure that I was set up for success and had the education that I needed,” said Bevel Founder and CEO Tristan Walker. “Through education, I got to see how the other half lived. It completely changed my life. I got to see what success could look like…and it completely changed my worldview.”
