Acclaimed DJ and producer Hannah Wants has announced a four-month break from touring to focus on her health and well-being after revealing her ongoing battle with cancer.
The announcement, shared on her social media, is an emotional reflection on her journey, her struggles with the pressures of the music industry, and her plans for holistic healing.
A Shocking Revelation
Hannah disclosed that she has been diagnosed with cancer for the fourth time. Her latest diagnosis comes as an unexpected blow, prompting her to reevaluate her life and take a step back from the demanding schedule of a professional DJ. In her post, she reflected on the toll that years of relentless touring, late nights, and the industry’s toxic culture have taken on her physical and mental health.
“This definitely isn’t the end-of-year post I wanted to be writing,” she began, before detailing the challenges of navigating her diagnosis while managing a successful career.
Life on the Road: The Hidden Struggles
Hannah opened up about the darker side of the music industry, highlighting how it often glorifies unhealthy behaviors, including substance abuse, lack of sleep, and constant pressure to perform. She admitted that for years, she thrived on the stress and adrenaline, pushing herself to the limit in pursuit of success.
“What other occupation not only offers but glorifies alcohol and drugs as standard to do what you’re being paid to do?” she wrote. “The no sleep, the loneliness, the airport food, the temptations, the pressure to be nonstop… It’s hard to say no when you love what you do.”
Hannah revealed her decision to take a hiatus from January to April 2025, dedicating herself entirely to healing. She plans to adopt an integrative approach that combines conventional cancer treatments with holistic practices, including meditation, yoga, water fasting, ozone therapy, and other alternative methods.
“I’m realizing now more than ever that true strength lies in the ability to take a step back, evaluate your reality, and prioritize what really matters in life,” she shared.
A Shift in Perspective
In her candid post, Hannah emphasized the importance of health, describing it as the ultimate form of wealth. She urged her followers not to take their health for granted and to invest in prevention rather than cure. Reflecting on her journey, she shared that this latest diagnosis has forced her to surrender control and trust the process.
“The power of surrender is much greater than the power of control,” she wrote. “It’s a waste of precious energy trying to force or fight the flow of life.”
Music as a Source of Healing
Despite stepping away from touring, Hannah confirmed that her new single, “Hold Me,” will still be released as scheduled on February 7, 2025. The track, which she described as her favorite production to date, was written during a time of personal heartbreak and has taken on even greater meaning in light of her recent diagnosis.
Hannah concluded her post with an uplifting message for anyone facing their own struggles, urging them to hold on and find strength in difficult times. “Everything is temporary. Observe. Accept. Release. Transform,” she wrote. “Our disappointments in 2024 are going to become part of our miracle stories in 2025.”
Her announcement has sparked an outpouring of support from fans and fellow artists, who praised her courage and honesty in sharing such a personal journey. As she embarks on this period of rest and healing, Hannah Wants continues to inspire with her resilience, strength, and unwavering commitment to prioritizing her well-being.
