Joe Alwyn Opens Up About Moving On From Taylor Swift

Joe Alwyn is done living in the past—and he thinks everyone else should be too. In a new interview with The Guardian, the actor spoke candidly about moving on from his six-year relationship with Taylor Swift, which ended back in early 2023.

When asked about how he’s dealing with the lingering public fascination around their breakup, Alwyn didn’t hold back. “That’s something for other people to do,” he said. “We’re talking about something that’s a while ago now in my life.” For him, it’s simple: he’s moved on and wants the rest of the world to do the same.

Blocking Out the Noise

Alwyn also reflected on what it was like dating one of the most famous people on the planet. When asked if the attention surrounding Swift ever overshadowed his acting career, he explained how he learned to tune it all out. “I’ve tried to focus on what I can control—friends, family, work,” he said. “If you let all of that other stuff in, it can mess you up. Then you’re living from the outside in, and you’re pretty fucked.”

The actor credited his “great family and friends” for helping him stay grounded through the media frenzy. Despite the public scrutiny, Alwyn said he’s optimistic about the future and feels lucky to be in a good place heading into 2025.

This isn’t the first time Alwyn has opened up about the challenges of dating Swift. In a 2024 interview with The Sunday Times, he admitted that navigating the end of a long-term relationship under the public eye was no easy task. “What’s unusual in this situation is how quickly it becomes public knowledge,” he said. “One week later, the entire world has an opinion.”

Still, Alwyn has made it clear that he’s ready to move forward. While Swift’s life has been making headlines—particularly her new relationship with NFL star Travis Kelce—Alwyn is focused on his work and what really matters to him. “It’s just in a different room now,” he explained about the breakup. “I’ve moved on.”

Joe Alwyn seems determined to keep his personal life private and let his career speak for itself. With roles in films like The Brutalist and Kindness of Strangers, he’s carving out his own path in Hollywood. For Alwyn, the noise of the past is just that—noise. As he put it, “I feel lucky to be where I am now.”

While the public may not be ready to let go of the Swift-Alwyn era, it’s clear that Joe is. For him, 2025 is all about focusing on what matters most and leaving the rest behind.
