Airscape, one of Johan Gielen’s projects, has occupied a unique and significant role in the history of electronic dance music over the past 30 years and it continues to do so. His legacy was solidified with late ’90s Airscape hits like “Cruising” and “L’esperanza,” along with iconic remixes of tracks such as Delirium’s “Silence” and Safri Duo’s “Played-A-Live“. Airscape has evolved over time, seamlessly merging trance, progressive, and techno elements while maintaining its distinctive sound.
Last year marked the beginning of a new chapter for Airscape, with Johan Gielen consistently delivering fresh releases each month. Some of the highlight tracks include “Invincible” featuring Sarah Anglionin, “Satellites” with Shakespeakers and a stunning remix of Tomcraft’s classic “The Beat” alongside “Healing” featuring Gig Segdwick. Far from slowing down, Johan is just beginning to showcase Airscape’s renewed sound, balancing energetic festival anthems with moments of introspection.
The iconic In Search of Sunrise compilation #20 was recently released, featuring Johan Gielen alongside his Airscape project as one of the chosen artists. Among the standout tracks is “Piano Del Sol (Airscape’s In Search of Sunrise Mix)“, a trance tune infused with Balearic elements, crafted specifically for Black Hole Recordings’ 25-year legacy.
