Kevin Durant continues his quest to conquer the audio space. In his latest endeavor, the NBA superstar partners with New York-based audio company, Master & Dynamic for its newest wireless headphones. Durant is no stranger when it comes to audio advertisement. In the past, he was a Beats By Dre athlete. With Master & Dynamic, the 2-time NBA champion is fully invested in the creative process as well as the marketing of the product.
According to the audio company’s Founder and CEO, Jonathan Levine, they leveraged their “top of the line products” to ensure superior quality using both MW65 Active Noise Cancellation headphone for one model and MWS 70 PLUS True Wireless Headphones for the other. In designing the headphones, BAPE offered their renowned green camo, while KD helped to create an orange camo. Levine has since coined the color way after the NBA superstar as “KD camo.” As you can see, Durant’s craftsmanship in design is parallel to his creativity on the court.
Levine first discovered BAPE after traveling to Tokyo with his two sons; both who were heavily influenced by the Japanese streetwear brand. They played a vital role in the start of M&D, which Levine co-founded with his wife, Vicki Gross. The company announced its partnership with Durant & his agent, Rich Kleiman, back in 2019.
Levine emphasizes the importance of Durant’s contribution in regards to the creative process of launching a product. His involvement begins at the grassroots level and is more than simply a celebrity endorsement. The new Master & Dynamic headphones are available now.
Durant and Kleiman’s Thirty Five Ventures also announced their partnership with Cadence 13 to create The Boardroom Podcast Network following their departure from ESPN last month.
