Noel Gallagher has responded to recent reports that Oasis are in line to record the theme song for the next James Bond film.
Last week, The Sun was one publication to run a story suggesting that the Manchester band were at the top of Amazon MGM’s wishlist for the next Bond theme, and now Noel has had his say on the speculation.
During an appearance on Talksport today (January 5), the guitarist was asked to respond to the rumours. “This James Bond thing? What, Oasis? Nah,” he said.
He did say that he would be interested in being the latest high-profile artist to pen a Bond theme, however. “What for Oasis to do it? Absolutely,” he said. “Of course. It would be an absolute honour, and I think those kind of things should be done by Brits not Yanks.”

Noel confirmed that there had been no contact to date between the Bond franchise and Oasis, although he did joke that he would be up for a role as “a Mancunian villain” in the next movie.
For his part, Liam Gallagher chimed in on the Bond rumours last month, responding to a post on X by quipping: “It’s happening you wait till you hear it it’s the best BOND tune ever”.

Noel has been talking about the possibility of a Bond theme for a long time – in 2008, he told NME that he’d “written a couple of Bond theme tunes”, while repeating his assertion that it is “a bit of a piss-take that the greatest British agent of all time has to be soundtracked by a bunch of fucking Americans”.
In 2015, Noel said he would record a Bond theme “in a heartbeat”, and a year later he reiterated that he would do it if he were asked. Paul Weller later revealed in 2017 that he and Noel had written “half” of a potential Bond theme.
In 2019, Liam also said he was up for recording a Bond theme, saying that the producers could “give us a call, why not”. He also claimed that he had met Barbara Broccoli in 2017 for initial conversations.
Amazon MGM took over creative control of the Bond franchise last year, and Dune‘s Denis Villeneuve has since been confirmed as the director of the next film, with Peaky Blinders‘ Steven Knight set to be overseeing the screenplay.
The new producers are said to be looking for a “fresh face” to take on the lead role, after Daniel Craig bowed out after 2021’s No Time To Die. No actor has been announced yet, but Callum Turner became the bookies favourite last month.

As for Oasis, Liam stoked rumours last week that the band might be active in 2026, after having appeared to confirm that they would not be touring again until 2027 at the earliest.
Replying to one fan who wrote that “Oasis 2025 will officially be over in a day”, Liam responded: “Bring on 2027 I mean 2026 I mean happy easter”.
He also sent out a couple of teasers relating to the make-up of Oasis setlists, in the event that they do come together for more dates in the next few years.
One fan asked if ‘Listen Up’ would make the list in the future, to which he said: “If we tour again there will be changes to the set list thems the rules”.
Another X user made it clear they wanted ‘Columbia’ to make the cut next time around. “Oh it’ll be there if we tour again,” Liam replied.
