Police in India Issuing Corporal Punishment for Violating National Shutdown

Some people in the United States might feel like this may be the only way to get some of the people in America to obey the “stay at home” order issued around the country.

Footage has surfaced of police in India violently hitting and whipping the residents in the streets who do not abide by the 21-day mandatory national lockdown issued by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday.

India, where 1.3 million of the world’s population calls home, had virtually its entire population rush the stores to prepare for their lockdown, however, most people were physically forced back into their homes.

On Wednesday, there were more than 600 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in India, but the number is expected to rise.
