President Trump on the Death of George Floyd: ‘Justice Will be Served!’

With Minnesota burning and calls for action in the death of George Floyd rising across the country, President Donald Trump is guaranteeing “justice will be served.”

George Floyd died in police custody after one of the arresting officers Derek Chauvin applied an illegal hold of a knee to the back of the neck. Floyd would state “I can’t breathe” repeatedly before losing consciousness. he would later be pronounced dead.

Acknowledging the issue in Minnesota, Trump returned to his favorite to Twitter stating the action of the FBI and Department of Justice was because of him.

“At my request, the FBI and the Department of Justice are already well into an investigation as to the very sad and tragic death in Minnesota of George Floyd,” Trump wrote. “I have asked for this investigation to be expedited and greatly appreciate all of the work done by local law enforcement. My heart goes out to George’s family and friends. Justice will be served!”

Overnight, the second day of protest turned violent in Minneapolis as officers and protestors clashed, buildings burned and businesses were looted.
