SAG-AFTRA and Heritage Auctions Host Rare Hollywood Appraisal Event

The SAG-AFTRA Foundation is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a free appraisal event, offering entertainment industry professionals and collectors the chance to discover the value of their Hollywood memorabilia. Partnering with Heritage Auctions, the world’s largest collectibles auctioneer, this exclusive two-day event will take place on May 3-4, 2025, at the SAG-AFTRA Building in Los Angeles.

Attendees will receive expert evaluations from world-renowned appraisers, with the opportunity to consign valuable items to The Actors Auction, a high-profile global sale. A portion of the auction proceeds will benefit the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, which has supported performers for four decades.

This free event is a rare chance to find out if your collectibles are worth a fortune. Pre-registration is required at ha.com/actorsauction.

Hollywood is full of forgotten treasures, from vintage movie posters and autographed scripts to props from classic films. Many of these items have been sitting in closets or storage units for years, their value unknown. Joe Maddalena, Executive Vice President at Heritage Auctions, compares the event to Antiques Roadshow, where everyday people discover that their old memorabilia is worth far more than they imagined.

Heritage Auctions has a history of record-breaking sales, including The Wizard of Oz Ruby Slippers, Game of Thrones memorabilia, and Babe Ruth’s legendary “Called Shot” jersey. Now, it’s your turn to find out what your collectibles are worth.

The free appraisal event covers a wide range of categories, including onscreen wardrobe and props, luxury timepieces and jewelry, rare movie posters, vintage video games, sports memorabilia, historical documents, fine art, photography, animation cels, rare coins, and even fossils and meteorites. Experts from Heritage Auctions will be on-site to assess each item’s market value and provide guidance on how to maximize its selling potential.

For those interested in selling, appraised items can be consigned to The Actors Auction, a global event that will showcase Hollywood collectibles to serious buyers worldwide. Heritage Auctions will professionally photograph, catalog, and market each piece to ensure top-tier presentation. One hundred percent of the auction house’s seller’s fee will be donated to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, supporting financial aid programs and career resources for performers.

For SAG-AFTRA members and entertainment professionals unable to attend in person, Heritage Auctions is offering an alternative way to participate. Those living outside Los Angeles can register online and schedule a free appraisal at the nearest Heritage Auctions location.

This event isn’t just about uncovering hidden value – it’s also about giving back to the entertainment industry. Courtney B. Vance, Chairman of the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, highlights the impact of this fundraiser: “This is more than just an appraisal event. It’s about providing a safety net for artists, whether through emergency financial aid or professional development programs. We’re grateful to Heritage Auctions for making this opportunity possible.”

With demand expected to be high, spots for the event are limited. If you have a piece of Hollywood history, now is the time to get it evaluated. Don’t miss your chance to be part of this special event.
