Wale Airs Out His Label on Twitter: ‘I’m Blackballed to Death’

Wale took to Twitter Wednesday morning to air his grievances with his management and the music industry as a whole. The D.C. rapper is claiming that the industry isn’t honest about their relationship with Black artists.

“My managers do the bare minimum,” Wale started his tweetstorm saying. “Labels been lying about the support of black artist and music.. but u know i don’t know how to convey my thoughts without certain people sayin i’m trippin.”

One fan responded to Wale’s tweet saying “Joe [Budden] was right,” referring to times that Joe Budden claimed on mulitple occasions that Wale was not receiving the proper support from his label.

“Yeah [Joe Budden] was right but that’s only half of it.. I’m blackballed to death. But won’t go there,” Wale said on the social media site.

Wale signed a new record deal with Warner Records for the release of his latest LP Woww… That’s Crazy. Prior to signing the deal, Wale parted ways with Atlantic Records after his album Shine underperformed.

Wale also claims that 4 of his projects were released entirely with self-promotion. Through all his strifes with labels, Wale has never blamed Maybach Music Group CEO Rick Ross for his dilemmas. Rick Ross signed Wale to his independent label in 2011.
