Claptone launches digital residency, 'CLAPTONE in The Circus'

Claptone is crafting an unconventional digital residency vis-à-vis “CLAPTONE in The Circus,” a live video series that debuted on April 22 and will air consecutively on Wednesdays until Aug. 5.

For 12 weeks, Claptone will dig deep into his trove of unreleased treasure to treat those who tune in to more than 40 exclusive Claptone originals, remixes, and edits. The twist? Claptone will premiere all of this material not behind the decks of a Balearic hot spot or an underground house venue, but rather from within a circus.

In these trying times, I’ve often found myself going on long, isolated walks to appreciate the beauty of nature. It was on one of these scenic, afternoon journeys that I first stumbled upon a tiny family-run circus.

The circus director told me about their struggle to pay the rent and buy food for the animals since the pandemic hit, as they couldn’t put on public shows.

“CLAPTONE in The Circus” is a philanthropic undertaking that enables the producer to support the circus while stylizing unique sets from within the grounds, complete with performance artists, including jugglers, knife throwers, and more.

I decided not simply to donate food and money, but to play specially themed and carefully selected sets at this little circus, involving parts of their show, to bring joy to my friends and fans in sound and vision

An unusual setting for a live series that befits Claptone’s idiosyncratic mystique, the circus grounds will next host the enigmatic entity at 9 p.m. CET April 29. “CLAPTONE in The Circus” can be streamed live via Claptone’s YouTube or Facebook page.
