EDC Mexico's 2021 installment will reportedly be postponed

While nearly every single festival has fallen to the wayside this year as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, EDC Mexico was more than fortunate enough to still host their 2020 edition at the tail end of February. Although Pasquale Rotella didn’t explicitly include EDC Mexico’s fate for 2021 in his lengthy State Of Insomniac update this past August, Mexican publication EMPO is now reporting that the event will be pushed back to an unspecified date in 2021 as uncertainty surrounding the pandemic continues to mount. As of September 13, Mexico has reported more than 4,000 new coronavirus cases, with the country’s death count now at more than 70,000.

If the news is confirmed by Insomniac in the coming weeks, this revelation could be a gloomy harbinger for North America’s 2021 festival season and a signal to another gutted events season next year. An official statement from Insomniac is expected to follow.

#EMPONews EDC México no se llevará a cabo en febrero pero SÍ tendrá edición 2021, ¡guarden este post! 🙌🏻
