Grant County police thwart possible ‘mass shooting’ at Bass Canyon Music Festival

On August 19, Grant County deputies detained 31-year-old Jonathan R. Moody outside of Bass Canyon Music Festival venue gates, preventing what they believed to be a “mass shooting” targeting festival-goers. A resident of Ephrata, a neighboring small town to The Gorge Amphitheater in George, Washington, where Bass Canyon was held, Moody was seen asking attendees what time the concert ended and where people would be exiting the venue. Following reports of unusual activity, Grant County police detained Moody and, upon investigation, disarmed him of two loaded 9mm pistols that led to his arrest on suspicion of one count of possession of a dangerous weapon and one count of unlawful carrying or handling of a weapon. Moody was subsequently lodged in the Grant County Jail.

The official statement from the sheriff’s office can be read below.
