Native Instruments details new workplace diversity measures

Native Instruments announced a initial steps to improve diversity and inclusion inside the company. These efforts come as a response to criticism of the company to acceptably address concerns about racism by former and current employees.

The music technology giant made a post in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, which was reportedly in stark contrast to experiences from black, indigenous people of color and diverse voices being ignored alongside bigger issues on inequality and lack of accountability within the company culture.

Actionable steps include hiring third party experts to audit the company’s practices and recommend new strategies with an initial budget of more than $100,000 available for improving the efforts of its diversity and inclusion (D&I) group. The company will also implement mandatory bias training for all staff.

In a statement to Mixmag, former employee, Jessy Halison, who brought allegations against Native Instruments to light said, “Companies out there need to do better internally. Posts on social media and donations are not enough: being anti-racist is an all year long work and commit to action, not only when an atrocious murder makes the headlines.”
