Skrillex cancels upcoming festival dates, cites focus on new albums

Dance music fans will have to wait just a little bit longer to see the next Skrillex performance. The OWSLA head honcho was booked to be the headliner at upcoming Sunset Music Festival as well as Movement Detroit‘s highly anticipated comeback this summer. Both festival appearances were scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend, which would have marked nearly seven months since Skrillex’s last performance. Unfortunately, the cancellations have been made without any other performances currently on Skrillex’s schedule. Though, there is a silver lining here.

On Skrillex’s Instagram, the LA-based producer cited that he has been “working very hard on finishing his albums and haven’t had enough time to prepare for the upcoming shows.” With both shows set for later this month, and Skrillex cancelling to batten down the hatches on what he’s confirmed are multiple LPs, perhaps these cancellations signal to forthcoming release dates as the albums seem to be nearing the finish line. At the end of the day, an extended body of work from Skrillex, no less two or more, will likely be well worth a pair of cancellations.
