CloudNone continues to push the boundaries of his craft following the success of his recent Lost In Dreams release, ‘Bliss’ EP, whose lead track “Quiet of My Mind” received airplay from Illenium and Alison Wonderland, along with praise from platforms like Iggy Magazine and Music For All. His ethereal production style is the foundation for “Circles,” where he shares the spotlight with Abandoned, the Danish duo known for their deeply emotive melodic dubstep. Abandoned takes a bold creative leap here, exploring liquid drum & bass influences while retaining their penchant for atmospheric soundscapes.
Nina Sung, no stranger to Lost In Dreams, previously appeared on the label with standout collaborations like “Fall Back to You” alongside Synymata and “I’ll Be There” with STAR SEED. On “Circles,” her hauntingly expressive vocals provide the emotional core of the track, narrating the universal struggle of feeling trapped in cycles of stagnation and pain. Her poignant yet hopeful lyrics are expertly paired with delicate piano progressions, glittering tonal textures, and fluid synth lines. The track carries a layered history. Initially conceptualized by Abandoned in 2021, it went through several iterations before CloudNone and Nina Sung added their unique touches. CloudNone touches on how the collab came to be: “‘Circles’ is a unique offering from Abandoned, Nina Sung, and myself. We went in circles a bit throughout the writing process, but ultimately landed with this beautiful, soft, emotive piece and I’m so stoked to have it out in the world.”
Elucidating on the slight deviation they took for their new track, Abandoned shares: “We’re excited to share that this song marks a departure from our usual style. Collaborating with CloudNone was an incredible experience that pushed us out of our comfort zones, allowing us to create something we’re truly proud of. Lastly, Nina Sung breaks down the meaning behind the song’s lyrics, saying “The song came out about when Cloudnone reached out to work on his track with the Abandoned guys, and I knew from the melancholic sounds that it had to be about something we’ve all experienced: that feeling of running around trying to get ahead and progress past pain but feeling like you’re still stuck.”
