Ahead of their upcoming Journey of a Lifetime tour, Zeds Dead are entering a new era defined by both reflection and relentless momentum. Nearly 17 years into their storied career, the duo continues to push creative boundaries, building immersive live experiences while cementing Deadbeats as one of bass music’s most recognizable independent brands. As they prepare for their most ambitious chapter yet, Hooks and DC opened up about the emotional weight behind this moment, the legacy of Deadrocks, and the creative forces that continue to drive them.
A New Creative Horizon
When asked about their emotional state heading into this tour, the duo emphasized a blend of gratitude and creative intensity. For Hooks and DC, the tour represents more than just a series of dates; it is a culmination of nearly two decades of evolution. “We’re working with the visuals team and trying to make this very immersive,” Hooks explained. DC echoed this sentiment, noting that despite the stress of planning such a massive undertaking, the duo feels deeply inspired by the opportunity to perform their biggest tour to date.
The production design for the tour is rooted in a unique conceptual framework. The duo is exploring the idea of sound as a persistent, traveling force. “We have this quote we are sampling that said ‘scientists believe sounds never actually die, they just keep traveling at really low volume,'” Hooks shared. This concept of a transmitter picking up sounds from the last hundred years serves as the backbone for the tour’s audiovisual experience, allowing them to remix older tracks and weave together a tapestry of sound and memory.
“A journey is the perfect way to put it. We’re always trying to guide the emotional experience and the energy shifts throughout the set.”
The Legacy of Deadbeats and Deadrocks
As Deadbeats celebrates its 10-year milestone, the platform has evolved into a thriving ecosystem. What began as a simple outlet for the duo to release their own music has grown into a community-driven brand that artists are eager to join. “It genuinely feels like its own thing now—not just something attached to us,” Hooks noted. This independence has allowed them to curate a specific atmosphere that fans have come to associate with the Deadbeats name.
This sense of community is perhaps most visible at their annual Deadrocks event. For fans, the pilgrimage to Red Rocks has become a marquee tradition. “It really is like a pilgrimage at this point,” Hooks said. “We give those weekends everything we have creatively, and I think people feel that energy when they’re there.” With the tour set to kick off in Denver, the duo is ready to set a new standard for what a live electronic experience can be.
As the Journey of a Lifetime tour approaches, Zeds Dead are proving that longevity in electronic music is achieved through constant evolution. By combining ambitious production, unreleased music, and a deep connection to their fanbase, they are ensuring that their next chapter is their most impactful yet.
The tour begins on July 2nd, 2026, at the Red Rocks Amphitheater.
