The doors to Berlin’s Berghain will be opening up come September, however, what once stood as one of Europe’s most thriving and exclusive nightclubs just months ago will now be repurposed as an art gallery.
Guests can book guided tours through Berghain’s main room, Panorama Bar, and Säule, which will be outfitted with work from nearly 100 Berlin-based creators. The exhibition is being brought to the public by curators and collectors Christian and Karen Boros, who’ve pledged all proceeds from the event to keeping the clubbing institution alive during the current pandemic.
In speaking to The Art Newspaper, Christian Boros comments,
“For three months during the confinement period we were speaking to artists on the phone every day.We wanted to show this incredible artistic production. Berlin was frozen, so why not think differently? Why not work together?”
