Bonnaroo will now require proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test for entry

With live music returning while the world is still not quite out of the woods of the pandemic, Bonnaroo has announced it will now require proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test in order to gain entry. Sharing the information on their official social media channels account, festival organizers stated,

“The safety of our patrons and staff is our number one priority. As such a full COVID-19 vaccination or negative COVID-19 test will be required to attend Bonnaroo 2021.”

Organizers went on to state that the last day to receive final vaccinations in time for the event is August 19. Those who are not fully vaccinated in time will need to provide a negative COVID-19 test taken no longer than 72 hours prior to the event and are asked to wear a mask through the event.

Tennessee, where Bonnaroo takes place, only has 39.7% of its state population fully vaccinated. Last month, the state was ranked No. 1 for the largest increase in spread following the increase in delta variant cases, with Slate reporting in July that Tennessee was halting all vaccine outreach. However, at the beginning of August, the Tennessean reported that the state has seen its vaccination pace nearly doubling due to the spread of the delta variant.

With the delta variant making its way through the United States, Live Nation has also announced they will allow artists whether or not they should make attendees require proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test. New York also stated at the beginning of August that indoor entertainment venues will be required to have proof of vaccination in order to gain entry.
