Coachella is preparing to dive headfirst into the decentralized web market. On February 4, the festival giant plans to offload freshly minted Coachella Collectible NFTs in partnership with Bahamian-based cryptocurrency exchange FTX. In addition to auctioning off 10 non-fungible lifetime passes, the Indio attraction will dispense digital collectibles redeemable for physical items, exclusive art prints, photo books, and more. What’s more, “special experiences” at Coachella 2022 are in store for lifetime ticket buyers; such NFT holders may expect “front and centre views at the Coachella Stage, lifelong Safari camping, or a banquet made by a professional chef in the Rose Garden.”
The Coachella Key Collection, Sights & Sounds, and Desert Reflections NFT collections will be available from February 4 – 11 on “an environmentally friendly marketplace on Solana,” per Coachella’s new NFT-focused webpage. The site adds, “a portion of the proceeds from each item will be donated to Give Directly, Lideres Campesinas, & Find Food Bank.”
Those interested in bidding on Coachella’s forthcoming NFTs should sign up on FTX US here. Upon depositing $60, the base price of a Sights & Sounds NFT, potential buyers may then press “Buy Now” on February 4 to be redirected to the Collection Page on FTX. According to the Innovation Lead for Coachella, Sam Schoonover,
“Only blockchain technology can give us the unique ability to offer tradable lifetime passes to Coachella for the first time ever. We’re excited about building new utility and community for our fans with NFTs, and in FTX we found the partner that we trust to provide us with infrastructure and support to help us usher in this new frontier.”
