Daft Punk socials come alive one year after disbandment, reissues for seminal ‘Homework’ and ‘Alive 1997’ LPs imminent

The first anniversary of Daft Punk‘s unexpected disbandment in 2021 was never going to come and go without any fanfare, or at a minimum, some heavy nostalgia. While fans are largely still processing the shock of the Androids’ sudden breakup one year later, it appears good things do come to those who wait, as social media channels likely belonging to the defunct duo surfaced on February 22 and began posting.

Naturally the Internet was quickly set ablaze with rampant speculation, though, unsubstantiated reports suggest that Daft Punk’s longtime manager Busy P will confirm to Apple Music‘s Zane Lowe that Daft Punk’s seminal Homework and Alive 1997 LPs are being reissued. Pre-orders for the two albums have appeared online, both likely to be landing on April 15—perhaps coincidentally the same day as Coachella 2022’s kickoff. It appears the visionary French producers may also be ramping up a presence on Twitch, where a selection of Daft Punk’s most memorable performances are likely to stream in the coming weeks. The duo’s website also features a revamped call-to-action so fans can sign up for future emails from the duo’s camp, suggesting there’s in fact more content underway.

Daft Punk’s groundbreaking debut studio album, Homework, originally landed in January of 1997, while the pair’s first live album, Alive 1997 followed four years later in the autumn of 2001. This story is still developing—stay tuned for additional details.

Listen to Busy P’s interview with Zane Lowe in full on Apple Music, airing February 23. Pre-orders for both Homework and Alive 1997‘s 25th anniversary vinyl re-release are available on Amazon.
