Damon Albarn hints at the possibility of a future collaboration with Sir Paul McCartney – Mix Session

After releasing the heavily anticipated Song Machine: Season One—Strange Timez in October, Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn is now alluding to more new music, specifically, a possible collaboration with Sir Paul McCartney. Albarn discussed the material that could one day lead to a Gorillaz-McCartney matchup in a recent interview, stating,

“I have a recording of Paul and myself that I could use for a Gorillaz track. It could easily fit on a Gorillaz album. It’s a very simple, basic recording but I would never release it without talking to him first…[I don’t want to say I have] a track with Paul, because I don’t, but I could definitely work with him. He is one of the most special pop musicians ever.”

Gorillaz, the brainchild of Albarn and comic book artist Jamie Hewlett, has provided fans with 22 years of high quality output, and that doesn’t look as if it will stop anytime soon. Despite having recently released a full body of work, Albarn disclosed that there is still quite a lot in the Gorillaz pipeline. This includes an animated Gorillaz film, which Netflix has agreed to release.

Another Gorillaz album could be on the way, according to Albarn, which could be the perfect home for the teased McCartney collaboration.
