Over the next three-weeks, the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League will finish their COVID-19–postponed seasons. In order to help fans feel the excitement, Defected Records has teamed up with Heineken, the Leagues’ official partner, for an eight-hour livestream called “The Kick Off.”
The Kick Off, slated for August 9, will feature eight DJs including Bob Sinclar, Idris Elba, Purple Disco Machine, Monki, Ferreck Dawn, Low Steppa, Melvo Baptiste, and Aline Rocha. Each DJ will stream live from unique locations either at home, in bars, or from special locations including the Heineken Experience in Amsterdam and the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon.
Heineken’s Director of Sponsorship, Hans Erik Tuijt, commented on the activation in a press release, stating,
“The wait is finally over for the culmination of the 2019/2020 UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. Whilst fans will not be able to enjoy the experience in the stadium or large gatherings, we believe The Kick Off is the perfect way to celebrate the return of the action in a digital-first experience and could be an early look into the future of fan events.”
The Kick Off will be broadcast globally across Defected’s YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Twitch channels as well as Heineken’s and UEFA’s social platforms. The musical festivities will start at 11 a.m. EST / 8 a.m. PST.
