Dom Dolla and MK have finally answered the endless sea of cries for their highly anticipated collaboration. First unveiled in July of 2022, “Rhyme Dust” caught the attention of many throughout the summer, but it wasn’t until the end of 2022 that the track exploded across TikTok’s For You Page, leaving Dom Dolla and MK in a precarious situation. Dom Dolla had explained that they had yet to finalize it and were simply continuing to crowdtest it on both social media and behind the decks before doing so. But they made the quick pivot over the holiday break to overhaul their 2023 release schedules—and clear the sample—so that they could strike while the iron was still hot. And after what has felt like a lifetime of waiting, one of Dancing Astronaut‘s (and everyone else’s) most-anticipated IDs of 2023 has finally hit streaming platforms, making the first-ever collaboration between the two powerhouse names through a trio of labels including Columbia UK, Ultra Records, and Three Six Zero Recordings.
Many may recognize the “Rhyme Dust” feature, which is interpolated from Q-Tip’s 1999 classic, “Breathe & Stop.” Coming as cross-genre weapon that pays homage to an iconic era of hip-hop while also showcasing the beauty of a somewhat minimalist style of tech house, “Rhyme Dust” was refined to perfection. Garnering millions upon millions of views across social media platforms—specifically TikTok—”Rhyme Dust” had been a long time coming, and a proper thank you is due to both Dom Dolla, MK, and their respective teams for making its release happen on short notice. It all started as “something fun to play in their sets” and it turned into arguably the single most in-demand release in dance music. Rejoice the fact that “Rhyme Dust” is officially accessible to all and stream it below.
