FrostTop is back and he’s continuing to be a force to be reckoned within the trap scene. After keeping relatively quiet in 2022—only putting out two original singles last year—his year proved to be a valuable lesson in quality over quantity. However, listeners could not have asked for a better brace of releases to tide them over until the following calendar. After being named one of Dancing Astronaut‘s Artists to Watch in 2022, FrostTop delivered with “ASTER” on NIGHTMODE and submitted one of our—and trap’s— most-anticipated IDs of 2022 when he dropped “Angels Landing,” his collaboration with fellow San Diego Waterboy and Dancing Astronaut‘s co-2022 Breakout Artist of the Year, ISOxo.
Now, following a brief release hiatus and a complete clearance of his Instagram, FrostTop is ready for 2023, opening a new era with a return to SLANDER and NGHTMRE‘s Gud Vibrations imprint. “Echo” marks “the beginning”—as he described it—of what could ultimately result in a banner 12-month run from the Southern California talent with plenty more new music on the way, with its cover art subtly reading “‘REFORM EP’ SINGLE [1]” in the bottom left corner. And “Echo” is an undeniable live weapon of a track, one that features cinematic builds before giving way to raucous waves of trap and bass at its summits, putting FrostTop’s matured sound and production abilities on full display. With only one single cashed in so far this year, “Echo” gives everyone plenty of reason to be excited for FrostTop’s looming debut EP.
