Glastonbury founder hopes to plan smaller version of festival in September – Mix Session

After cancelling the festival’s 50th anniversary in 2020 and finally concluding the same fate for its 2021 event, Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis has announced that he would like to throw a smaller version of the globally renowned festival this coming September.

The 85-year-old founder suggested a smaller roll-out on the date of the 50th anniversary (September 18), with the possible inclusion of original 2020 headliners such as Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift, and Paul McCartney.

Like all other live events, Glastonbury had a tumultuous past year, going back and forth on cancelling 2021’s experience before eventually deciding to call it off, despite fear of facing bankruptcy. Daughter and event organizer Emily Eavis said in the official public statement,

“With great regret, we must announce that this year’s Glastonbury Festival will not take place, and that this will be another enforced fallow year for us. In spite of our efforts to move Heaven & Earth, it has become clear that we simply will not be able to make the Festival happen this year. We are so sorry to let you all down.”

Tickets and deposits will roll over again until the event hopefully resumes in 2022.
