Straight from the archives of Chicago DJ Braxton Holmes, Soundcloud now hosts a recently unearthed, unpublished Frankie Knuckles “Valentine’s Session” mix dating all the way back to 1986.
The 80-minute entity was recorded at C.O.D. Club in Chicago—mainly a punk and alternative rock venue that has since been shut down. As the 80s carried on, DJs became a more regular part of club culture, leaving behind classic mixes like this one from the beloved late disk jockey. With heavy disco and soul, the mix undeniably serves as a reminder of the purity and timelessness that is house music.
