When two of the biggest names in dance music come together fans take notice, and for good reason. Many already know that the first time ILLENIUM and The Chainsmokers collaborated was on “Takeaway” with Lennon Stella back in 2019. Fast forward four years and the two dance titans are back with a follow-up single, recruiting with Carlie Hanson for “See You Again.”
“See You Again” was originally teased out by The Chainsmokers on social media when they shared a video of the track being played out live, attached with a simple caption that tagged both ILLENIUM and Carlie Hanson. The post sent just about everyone into a frenzy, with momentum building ahead of the track’s official announcement that would follow shortly after ILLENIUM’s historic night in Colorado.
And “See You Again” comes less than a week after ILLENIUM broke the record for the most-attended single-headliner dance music event in U.S. history with his TRILOGY:COLORADO show at Denver’s Mile High Stadium. ILLENIUM previously held the record with his first TRILOGY show at Las Vegas’ newly minted Allegiant Stadium in 2021 before Kx5 unseated him with their takeover of the Los Angeles Coliseum in December 2022.
One of the undeniable highlights of TRILOGY:COLORADO was when The Chainsmokers and Carlie Hanson joined ILLENIUM on stage to formally debut “See You Again” together on stage in front of 50,000 attendees. And Hanson would later join The Chainsmokers on stage again later that night during their set at XS Nightclub in Las Vegas. Listen to their “Takeaway” followup “See You Again” below.
