Live Nation, Veeps aim to standardize post-pandemic livestream concerts with 60 newly equipped venues

Just as corporate America learned that remote employment would endure beyond the pandemic, the music industry recognizes that livestreamed concerts are here to stay too. Now, emerging livestream platform Veeps, founded by former pop-punk rockers Joel and Benji Madden of Good Charlotte, has partnered with Live Nation to retrofit over 60 venues for this purpose.

The Wiltern in Los Angeles will be the first venue to take on its own livestream series as a result of the joint venture. The digital concert series will feature performances by Young Thug, LANY, Freddie Gibbs, among others. The historic venue’s digital transmissions will run through July 9, 2021, well into the time period where live indoor shows should be back in action.

Other confirmed venues that Live Nation and Veeps will optimize for livestreaming include The Fillmore in both San Francisco and Philadelphia, Chicago and New Orleans’ House of Blues, the Bay Area’s Shoreline Amphitheater, and Washington’s famed Gorge Amphitheater.

The ulterior intention behind the project is to assimilate livestreams into contemporary tour schedules. For example, an artist would be able to expand their outreach to foreign territories during a stop at New Orleans’ House of Blues during a US tour, or reach a wider national audience with a performance at The Gorge.
