Make garage basslines and breakdowns in the style of Sammy Virji with Meld

In our latest video, we load up Meld in Live 12 and use it to make garage basslines and breakdowns in the style of Sammy Virji.

Since Live 12 was released in March, we’ve released two videos, both focused on the highly versatile, great-sounding modulation monster that is Meld. The first is:

How to use MELD in Live 12 to make a track from scratch

And the second:

Make metal-inspired synth riffs with MELD!

Some people will argue trilogies always tail off. Godfather Pt 3 split opinion, Return of the Jedi was nowhere near as good as The Empire Strikes Back, and even Bourne Ultimatum was not everyone’s favorite. But in the case of The Meld Trilogy videos, perhaps this is the best yet?

One artist who has been capturing our ears more and more is Sammy Virji. He’s certainly not a new comer; in fact, the track we’re focusing on is from 2017, but he just seems to hit all the right notes, mixing underground sensibilities with commercial necessities. Tricky.

In this Tutorial, we’re using Meld to remake the FM bassline and the breakdown of his track ‘Never Let You Go’. You can hear it in his DJ Mag set from last year.
