Mixcloud has just announced that it will be selling tickets to livestreams, featuring appearances from the likes of Flying Lotus, Lafawndah, and Leon Vynehall.
The streaming service will offer pay-per-view showings, usually starting around $10. An email with a link will be sent to the recipient after purchase, which will grant access to the stream. As COVID-19 rages on, more and more artists are struggling to earn wages that allow them to curate more music for their fans. Because of this collective hole in the pocket of so many creatives, Mixcloud CEO, Nico Perez, felt that ticketed online events were a great way to help. Says Perez,
“Launching tickets is our next step in helping artists and creators generate new income and building out a full-stack music platform, with creators at the core.”
In addition to selling livestream tickets, Mixcloud also has a monthly subscription feature with Mixcloud Select, including artists such as Armin Van Buuren, Afrojack, the one and only Carl Cox, and many more. The ticketed shows are still in a trial period, beginning with more well-known artists, but in time these paid events could span to much more than already established acts.
