Netflix announces new Woodstock '99 documentary

A new Netflix documentary centered on the notorious Woodstock ’99 festival is in the works. As reported by Deadline, the streaming leader has teamed up with Raw—the studio behind Netflix originals Don’t F**k with Cats and Fear City: New York vs. The Mafia—on production, which has allegedly already begun. The latest venture parallels Netflix’s previous 2019 documentary on the disastrous Fyre Festival, Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened.

Planned as a celebration of the original 1969 Woodstock festival, Woodstock ’99 set out to be, “three days of peace, love and music” and resulted in a cataclysmic turn of events, ending in violence, looting, extreme heat, and sexual assault allegations. MTV provided extensive live coverage of the festival.

The upcoming film will feature unseen footage and exclusive testimonies from those involved in the infamous event, seeking to uncover the real story of how Woodstock ’99’s influential culture came to fruition and the subsequent aftermath.
