As the pandemic continues and the return of live events remains distant, a Save Our Stages initiative has kicked off in an effort to save independent music venues. The initiative was originally formed by YouTube Music and the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA), and now Save Our Stages has announced its own festival from October 16 – 18. The festival is called SOSFEST, and it boasts a heavy-hitting lineup of genre-crossing artists who are coming together to help support independent venues.
Electronic music artists featured on the lineup include Major Lazer and Dillon Francis while an array of pop music artists including G-Eazy, Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus, and Macklemore make up the pop music contingent. Portugal. the Man, Foo Fighters, and Dave Matthews are among the other featured artists included on the lineup.
The festival will aim to raise awareness and funds for financially vulnerable venues, and fans are encouraged to donate directly to NIVA’s Emergency Relief Fund, which benefits these struggling independent venues on NIVA’s Official YouTube Channel. SOSFEST is livestreaming entirely on NIVA’s YouTube page with segments simultaneously airing on performers’ YouTube channels.
