After remaining mostly quiet throughout the past year, The Chainsmokers will be making a return as they back a new film set in Los Angeles’ famed Emo Nite music events, Every Nite Is Emo Nite. The fictional film will take place among real-life Emo Nite events, with a slew of artists set for cameos.
The Chainsmoker’s production company, Kick the Habit, has set out to back the film, alongside digital studio 3BLACKDOT, Five All in the Fifth, Emo Nite founders T.J Petracca and Morgan Freed, and the film’s writer, Brandon Zuck. Speaking to Variety about the film, The Chainsmokers said,
“Emo music has greatly influenced our lives, taste and the music we make. The community around the music is one of a kind, and we’re excited to showcase Brandon’s amazing story for the world to see.”
While it has not officially been announced whether The Chainsmokers themselves will be making an appearance in the film, the branded Emo Nites in Los Angeles have welcomed a number of celebrities, including Demi Lovato, Skrillex, and Post Malone, since its founding in 2014.
Every Nite Is Emo Nite is not The Chainsmoker’s first foray into film, with the duo, made up of Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart, having scored the 2020 release Words on Bathroom Walls. Besides their ventures into the film industry, and an interview with Will Briger on his Apple podcast, 1 Hour Intern, The Chainsmokers have remained mostly quiet throughout the past year as they have enjoyed their musical hiatus.
