Legendary electronic giants, The Prodigy, have begun work on their forthcoming documentary, The Prodigy. Produced by founding band members Maxim and Liam Howlett as well as Pulse Films, the project promises high expectations, being held in outstanding hands. Pulse Films’s production resume notably points to Beastie Boys Story in addition to British drama series Gang’s Of London.
The film will include live and archival footage, animation, and first-hand testimonies, said to tell “the raw, uncompromising and emotional story of a gang of young outlaws from Essex who came together in the vortex of the late ’80s UK rave scene.”
The film is dedicated to the late and great band frontman, Keith Flint, who devastatingly took his own life in March of 2019. Speaking in regards to the endeavor, Maxim and Howlett explained in detail,
“…A story of brothers on a mission to make noise, to ignite the people’s soul and blow-up sound systems worldwide, that’s fucking what. This film will be made with the same integrity that our music: uncompromising, raw and honest. This one’s for Keef!”
The film is meant to be as abrasive and unyielding as the band. Director Paul Dugdale—also responsible for concert documentary films from the likes of Adele, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, and more—said of the upcoming film,
“We want the viewers to leave the cinema like they’ve just stepped off a roller-coaster.”
Production of The Prodigy’s documentary sets into motion this coming spring, but until then the electronic masterminds have announced their return to the studio.
