With the promise of a 2021 North American tour comes TOKiMONSTA‘s latest “Say Yes,” made in concert with on-the-rise sister duo VanJess. “Say Yes” fuses R&B elements with VanJess’ vocals and a syncopated bassline that reverberates throughout the collaborative effort. The song, inspired by the “deeper meanings of openness and love,” is TOKiMONSTA’s “first real dance record,” she explained, elaborating on this sentiment in both a quotation and on Twitter:
“The original ‘Say Yes’ was a song that encompassed the deeper meanings of openness and love. Though the pandemic has been challenging, I felt inspired to tap into that introspection and reinterpret this song with the help of the incredible VanJess. It’s my first real dance record and I’m excited to share it with the world.”
“Say Yes” arrives in tandem with the news that TOKiMONSTA will soon hit the road for a run of shows that will afford her the opportunity to play her 2020 album, Oasis Nocturno, live. The tour, which includes special guests Biicla, Rochelle Jordan, and Kingdom x Rush Davis, will take TOKiMONSTA through some of the nation’s largest cities including Los Angeles; Washington, D.C.; Brooklyn, and San Francisco, among others.
