A request for a restraining order against Diplo was filed in Los Angeles Superior court on November 16 on the grounds that the producer intimidated the woman seeking the order with “revenge porn.” In October, the woman, whose name is being withheld for privacy reasons, alleged on Twitter that Diplo had previously hired a private investigator “in [an] attempt to scare” her into “not speaking out” on the “disgusting details” that she supposedly knows about him.
In the thread, the woman stated,
“I never had the will or intention to expose Diplo being that I did not want all the years I invested into speaking & hanging out with him to go in vain….or end nasty. But I slowly started to realize he is a huge manipulating liar/gaslighter who PREYS young women of ALL races (to be honest) but primarily young naive women of color.”
A response to the woman’s Twitter thread reportedly contained a graphic image that she claims came from an account owned by Diplo or someone affiliated with him. The woman and Diplo are said to be the only two people in possession of the image, according to her attorney, Lisa Bloom. In a recent statement, Bloom described her perception of the woman seeking legal protection as “very credible,” and added that the accuser has “corroborating evidence in support of her claims.” Additional women have since come forward with allegations against Diplo, Bloom asserted.
Bloom said of the motion for a restraining order,
“We recently filed for a restraining order to prevent Diplo or anyone associated with him from distributing revenge porn images of my client, which is illegal and often done to discourage accusers from coming forward.”
The hearing on the restraining order request is set for December 8. Diplo’s attorney Bryan Freedman denied that Diplo had engaged in any such behavior and dismissed the allegations, stating,
“Unfortunately, this individual has been harassing my client and his family for more than a year and has repeatedly refused to stop doing so. To be clear, in no way has my client violated any law. In fact, he has repeatedly made it clear that he wants nothing whatsoever to do with this person—and simply needs her ongoing harassment of his family to end”
