Skrillex joins Ty Dolla $ign for lively 'Tiny Desk (Home)' performance

NPR‘s “Tiny Desk” series isn’t just a fan-favorite musical web series, it’s clear the artists love being featured too. On the latest episode, Ty Dolla $ign, hot off the heels of his collaborative new album, enlists Skrillex and a full band to run through a grip of his hit tracks, including a performance of “Ego Death” featuring FKA Twigs, and Kanye West

Moving might not be the typical descriptor Ty Dolla $ign’s hit 2014 track “Or Nah,” but in this small and intimate setting, moving seems to hit the nail on the head.

The LA-native crooner introduces his band, Jesus People, flanked by a guitar-clad Skrillex in the back. Towards the middle of the set, Skrillex puts down the guitar and picks up his headphones, live mixing alongside Ty Dolla $ign. Eventually, the entire crew breaks it down and jams out mid-set, before the “Blasé” rhymer slips back into a refined classic R&B gestation.

The “Tiny Desk” concert remains one of the most openhearted performances formats, consistently drawing musicians together for an expressive stint during a time when live music has been indefinitely shelves. Watch below and brighten up the day.
