The first ever original release from Dancing Astronaut Artist to Watch in 2023 DRYDEN has formally arrived via NIGHTMODE. For those unfamiliar, DRYDEN is the new alias behind the creative mind that is Dryden Brown, who formerly released under the name Lemay. But DRYDEN isn’t just a new identity for Brown, it also represents a new sound and new direction. And listeners had already gotten a first glimpse of what to expect in the form of his MINUTES PAST VOL. 1 and VOL. 2 bootleg packs that released on SoundCloud towards the end of 2022 and start of 2023, both flexing his unique soundscapes with driving bass lines and groovy production that’s meant to keep people moving on the dance floor. His debut original release “Feel The Power” is certainly no different.
“Feel The Power” is a forward-thinking dance track that draws inspiration from sounds of the past. Electronic titans like Knife Party and Justice come to mind when listening to DRYDEN’s heavy-hitting debut. But make no mistake, “Feel The Power” is uniquely DRYDEN in all of the best ways. In an interview with Dancing Astronaut in the wake of MINUTES PAST VOL. 1, Brown had explained that with his new project, he started by asking himself “what would Dryden listen to?” His first formal look into his world of originals sheds light on the answer to that question and proves another massive step in building a world and telling his story through music.
