Firefighters are battling the fast-moving blaze, which erupted on Tuesday evening, forcing evacuations in multiple neighborhoods.
Evacuation Orders
Mandatory evacuation orders have been issued for the following areas:
- East of Altadena Drive
- Kinneloa Canyon Road
- Glen Springs
- Coolidge, Miranda, and Roosevelt streets
- Foxridge and Canyon Close
Residents are urged to leave immediately as the fire poses a direct threat to life and property. An evacuation shelter has been set up at All Saints Church, located at 132 N. Euclid Avenue, Pasadena.
Fire crews from multiple agencies, including the Pasadena Fire Department and U.S. Forest Service, are working tirelessly to contain the blaze. However, strong winds reaching up to 80 mph are making containment efforts difficult, with flying embers sparking spot fires in previously safe areas.
Schools and Community Impact
The Pasadena Unified School District announced school closures for Wednesday to allow crews to assess damage and ensure campus safety. Grab-and-go meals for students will be available at designated locations, including Madison Elementary and McKinley School.
Authorities are urging all residents near the affected areas to stay alert, have a go-bag ready, and heed evacuation orders. Winds are expected to peak late Tuesday night, further exacerbating fire conditions.
