Drake’s new album news is finally here-and according to Drizzy himself, it’s “a slap.”
The rapper dropped the bomb during a livestream with Adin Ross on Kick, where he casually confirmed that he’s back in the studio working on a solo project following his 2023 release For All the Dogs.
“Thank you to everybody that’s streaming the album,” he told fans. “Every time, every journey. Working on a new album, it’s a slap.” When Adin asked if it was a solo record, Drake simply replied, “Yeah.”
This new Drake album comes right after his joint project with PARTYNEXTDOOR, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, which dropped in February and went straight to the top of the charts. Clearly, the momentum hasn’t stopped.
But Drake’s got more than music going on-his cryptic Instagram post earlier this month hinted at deeper themes in the upcoming project. He said his “next chapter may leave you feeling uneasy” and asked fans to view his “honesty as clarity not charity.”
And of course, no Drake update would be complete without some mention of the Kendrick Lamar drama. He alluded to the beef in the same post, writing, “I grew up non confrontational and always treated this game as a sport… but these days the podium has been hard for all of us to ignore.”
Fans haven’t forgotten the Kendrick Lamar Super Bowl moment either-K.Dot subtly fired off a censored version of his diss track Not Like Us during the halftime show, taking another jab at Drake. Drake had previously teased a “round two,” so it’ll be interesting to see if this new album takes the beef up another level.
Meanwhile, fans in Australia and New Zealand were disappointed when Drake pulled the plug on his Anita Max Win Tour stops in those regions due to “scheduling conflicts.” He was set to perform in Brisbane, Sydney, and Auckland. His team says new dates are in the works, though nothing’s locked in yet.
So, are you hyped for the new Drake album? Think he’s gonna address the Kendrick beef head-on?
