Anvaya’s latest single, “Churaya,” arrives as a testament to the duo’s meticulous approach to production and their ability to bridge disparate musical worlds. The track spent two years as an unfinished sketch before a flight to Dubai served as the catalyst for its completion. Kaushal, one half of the project, utilized the time in the air to weld the composition to a new groove, eventually sending the work to Sonia and Indo Warehouse co-founder Kahani, who finalized the record overnight.
The resulting soundscape is defined by sweeping stabs, intricate tribal percussion, and a persistent, tension-filled groove that refuses to resolve. Sonia’s vocal performance is particularly striking; rather than serving as a traditional topline, her voice acts as an instrument, weaving original Hindi poetry into the fabric of the track. This collaboration highlights the duo’s contrasting influences, where Kaushal’s jazz training meets Sonia’s classical background to pull melodic house toward darker, more complex harmonic territory.
This sonic direction is a deliberate evolution for the pair, mirroring the artistic statement they made at Coachella 2025. During their set on the Gobi Stage as part of the Indo Warehouse collective—the first South Asian electronic group to perform at the festival—they famously integrated Gujarati Garba into their performance, further cementing their commitment to cultural fusion within the electronic space.
