In the latest documentary, directed by Brooklyn native, Dayday, artists gather to discuss the Ripple Effect of DMV music.
Ari Lennox starts with her beginnings as a singer in the church choir. She credits her hometown of Washington D.C. for instilling the drive and motivation to her success.
“This is a musical city,” says Rico Nasty. “We should embrace that. We should feed that and put that in our children.
Domo Wells agrees saying, they will not make it easy on you.
Pusha T echoed the same sentiments as Rico Nasty.
“I believe in the area as a whole, Virginia, DC, Maryland. When you think about it, and you think about al the music and talent that comes form this area… we all broke eslewhere. We don’t have a chitlin circuit for ourselves.”
