Pusha T, Ari Lennox and Rico Nasty enjoy DMV talks, over Sunday soul food.

Your native city is the first catalyst to your success. Whether you embrace its distinctive culture, or steer away from it due to limited options, it serves as the GPS to achievements. In Spotify’s latest, “Sunday Dinner,” DMV natives speak on what makes the Washington metropolitan area unique.

In the latest documentary, directed by Brooklyn native, Dayday, artists gather to discuss the Ripple Effect of DMV music.

Ari Lennox starts with her beginnings as a singer in the church choir. She credits her hometown of Washington D.C. for instilling the drive and motivation to her success.

“This is a musical city,” says Rico Nasty. “We should embrace that. We should feed that and put that in our children.

Domo Wells agrees saying, they will not make it easy on you.

Pusha T echoed the same sentiments as Rico Nasty.

“I believe in the area as a whole, Virginia, DC, Maryland. When you think about it, and you think about al the music and talent that comes form this area… we all broke eslewhere. We don’t have a chitlin circuit for ourselves.”
